The art for the actual CD is below as well.
Bands: The Misfits, The Decedents, Alkaline Trio
Above is the Cover of Gage Lane's album titled Pipe Dreams. I did many variations of the front and back cover for this project and finally the last one I did worked! It is painted in acrylic paint 12x12. They were printed off and packaged as CDs (that you can purchase if interested). These images are of the packaging with the plastic over them so they are not the best quality. The art for the actual CD is below as well. Above is a quick sketch from my imagination using cross hatching and hatching using a fine tip pen. Above is the start of a painting I am doing in acrylic. It is much larger than this (there are more parts to the piece that have been cropped out because I have not yet painted them. The whole thing was sketched out from a collage I made and will post it when I finish the painting. Above is a collage I am doing for a friend. They gave me a list of punk bands and asked my to collage them and I have recently began to paint it as well. That too will be shared later once it is completed. Bands: The Misfits, The Decedents, Alkaline Trio I apologize for the sexually disturbing collage lol. Messing with a quill pen and ink above, nothing serious but found it interesting. On the left is a collage I made and I drew it on pencil on the right along with a red marker for the cards to stand out! Very fun project considering I have been loving collage lately!!

Natalie arranged this still life and then projected an image to create abstract shadows. The goal was to focus on the art of reductive drawing and focus on reflection. My strengths of reflection are most evident on the floor in relationship to posed objects.
Above are two images of my planning for my final, it changed as the project progressed and I took into consideration my teachers advice. Full credit to soundtrack from The Circus. I put Lillian Gish's head on the inventor of the liquid fuel rocket and then drew hair around the tv Sign and put Lillian's body under it, it is supposed to represent an air ballon. The air ballon was invented well before the 20's but they were around so I added it for aesthetic purposes. This collage focuses on Al Capone and prohibition. The house is Al Capones and the car was in front of it but to the left a bit more. He is behind the Volstead act and I used an image of sliced bread because it was invented in the '20s. On the bread I put the face of the man from the Jazz Singer, the white male that dressed as a black man, "blackface" (style of make up used back in the day) and his head is being cut off for the sense of racism. I drew the blood around Al Jolson's head and I also added in the veto stamp across the Volstead act as a symbolism of retaliation to prohibition. In this collage I selected President Warren G Harding and his house. The female on the porch is Mary Pickford, another famous actress of the '20s. The female on the balcony is just a stereotypical image of a women during this time period. I drew in faint shadows the the stand figures in the foreground. Above is a collage containing images of the KKK and important male figures during this time. The men in the foreground are Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Warren G. Harding, and Harvey Firestone. My goal with this particular panel was the symbolize the ignorance of powerful figures involved with the government. I drew beer cans sprawled across the ground the mens chairs are sitting and and allowed the KKK to exist behind them and they are well aware of their existence, but continue to party and ignore it. There is a sense of control of the crime because of the marionette structures I attached to the mens heads, hand, and knees. The man all the way to the right has been unattached from his puppet strings and this symbolizes that the only escape from the corrupt government is death. This is not ideally true but is how I wished to portray the nastiness of the dark side of the government. A face we all know, Charlie chaplin that is combined with a composition of the Warner's Theater and again another stereotypical image of a female walking a rope. The reason I drew the rope is because of my love for Charlie Chaplins film, The Circus and I though it suited this panels layout. ChildhoodThis panel is related to the most visited fast food restaurant of my childhood, Burger King. There is a great sense of nostalgia in this panel, as well as all the other four in this category. This is a picture of my grandpa on my dads side that I actually never met but the lack of my family's existence is relevant to my childhood. I took a humorous approach to this panel by giving him breasts, but of burgers and then adding a quote: "please pull forward to the second window to touch my buns." The flag is from an old picture of my father and I placed it there to respect the duties my grandpa made to our country. Above are images that represent the things I was watching on television as a child. I selected an image of a tv that is very similar to the ones I grew up with and placed an image of Jennifer Aniston and Ken Olandt. That is a shot from the original Leprechaun movie. I created humor with Tom and Jerry as well. Jerry is bathing with Daphne, from Scooby-Doo, and Tom is peeping through a window in the top right that I sketched in with pencil. Bush is behind the tub with raptor from The Rugrats on the tip of his finger. There is also a monster from Scooby-Doo on top of t.v. and an old street signs from a corner in my hometown. This collage took probably the longest to arrange, cut, and paste down. This is also in relationship to the time I spent watching movies. This is an old movie theater that actually still stands in St. Clair Shores but has been out of business for quit sometime, sad really. I cut the windows out to fit the contour of the clown from It so he would appear to exist on the inside of the movie theater. Two people are walking in as Shaggy and Scooby are running for their lives, no surprise there. I also placed Chuckies face in place of the original movie poster that was on the wall. There is an image of my father sitting on a couch and talking on the phone as the clown from McDonalds is consuming the top of my fathers head and has his hands around him. Behind that is a poster of the movie Tremors, and is a movie I was introduced by my mother and watched with her often as a young one. To the right are 3 bodies from one photo, my father on the right and then his two brothers. I cut the heads out of a photo of myself, my twin Ashley, and Mary Tomczak, my legal guardian. Mary raised me since I was 8 months old and was my mother figure. I drew in a line of people waiting to enter the movie theater. The blew up an image of my mom holding me and Ashley when we were very young. I cut out our heads from another baby photo and pasted them on their to give reason for the look of exhaustion on my mothers face. I come from a family of 12 and her expressions strongly implies this. My parents never made it well together so I cut out a picture of my dad to fit the frame of the chair my mother is resting in and put his arm around her. I wanted to create a "family photo" because I have yet to ever see one of all of us together. The handwriting on the back of the kodak image is my father I want to say, but not 100% sure. The black and white image to the right of that is a picture of my dad as a young boy. My lack and loss of family is where a lot of my attraction and obsession with memories and fear of losing them, also not experiencing enough time/memories with the people in my life now, and growing up being a terrible thing is derived from. Shocker, another movie reference. This is an image of the house on Elm Street from A Nightmare on Elm Street along with the cast. I put the family video as the frame because I rented this movie way too many times to count from FV. The family vehicle was also a red town and country with the sliding doors that hurt like hell when you got your hand caught in them. I drew the rest of the tiles on the right side and added in the street sign. Also placed Tina under the back wheel with blood on the ground. FutureThis panel is expressing my feelings of Trump and that Lady Gaga and Johnny Depp could dominate over his existence completely. I hope that Trump does not make it in the future and we take in a President worthy of that job title. I arranged the gun to appear as attached to Lady Gaga's lips and I drew in the blood with red pen and pasted on green eyes to the nasty goblin, Donald Trump. This panel brings attention to the issue of race and that I hope it dissolves to its best ability in the future. I cut up two images of males, one white and the other African-American. I laid them out to appear as a whole. I wrote the definition of John Doe and added a quote, "I am no one ^2, but we are John Doe" When I was making this collaboration of these two men my sister asked me who are they and that implied that there may be some confusion to what I was trying to express so I came up with this quote to make my point clear. I squared "I am no one" to inform viewer that, yes there are two men here but that is irrelevant. The are laid out like this to suggest as being one male, John Doe, who is unidentified....African-American or white. One may never know. In the future, I hope to hold on to the strong relationship I share with my twin, Ashley. I have witnessed many family members split apart for numbers reasons and my goal is to avoid this and keep her as a major part of my life. We go out to eat a lot and is one of our favorite things to do. There is something about being in this public setting that makes us die of laughter.....its the greatest! Ashley has always reminded me of a little pink pig, kinda weird but we were picking out animal we looked like and this one suited best so I drew a little pink pig in the mug the is setting on the table where she would be sitting with her menu open. I also drew the folder paper to imply the it is Ashley's seat. I combined our faces to represent the we are each others halves, literally, twins. I also gave myself Lady Gaga's hair because she is a famous figure I look up to because of her views and her pure heart. I hope to be as influential, brave, and motivational as she is one day. It has always been my dream to make films and living in Hollywood would be ideal in order for my to make this happen. So in the future, I plan to make my way over there and check it out. I cropped out an image of me with my cats because I want them to be apart of my future, I know they don't live forever but I wish this did. The tan cat on my lap recently got out and has not come back so there is hopeful thinking that she will appear one day, I miss her: Willow aka CoCo Willy Bean the Third. I also placed my baby face on my current face because in the future I know I will wish to be young again and this is an unrealistic desire but I know it is something I will longer on as we all do, human nature. This is also a 1968 Volvo.....DREAMS....one day I will own you. The compass I drew in represent that I wish to navigate across the country and see "the sunset on the west side." There is the tiny symbol of the sun being separated beneath the compass. This is referencing The Outsiders when Cherry is Talking with Pony Boy Curtis about seeing the sunset on the East and West Side. There is a quote from the movie as well about being gold as a child. I wrote this in because I never want to loose site of my feelings about what this quote represents. First this panel displays luminosity and I am very drawn to luminous things because it is very representational of memories of walking around St. Clair Shores with my sister and friends. So I approached expressing what I hope for in the future by drawing a time machine so I can jump back to my childhood and relive the good times! Realistically possibly? Nah, not before I die. There is a image of me and Ashley at family video, a few shots ashley took around SCS and the a image from the Brand New Concert....amazing experience and would love to revisit that moment. I laid out the images to create a sense of connection but can still tell the separation between each image because of the hard edges I left on the images.
Above are two files. The first is a list of my images from my
collages and the second is my power point for my final project. Below is a short clip of the noises made on our costume. There are wind chimes on the left leg and beans glued to film strip from old VHS's. On the Back there are layers of aluminum and two aluminum pockets on the shoulders that have the beans inside of the compartments and makes for a great move when the costume is in motion. The second video is a piece I put together on premier and added music to it, just a fun experimental decision I made instead of just uploading the costume as a whole piece.
This is my citra-solve final piece. The images I used are a flamingo (furred) , grenade (death), door peep hole (curiosity) , bananas (rotten) and Claudette Colbert (adulthood). I arranged the images so that there is emphasis on Claudette Colbert's face and created a helmet of sorts around her head and created her body from a grenade and banana's as the feathered tail.Below are two images of my planning process for the design of my timeline.
This was a project where we got to work alone but are combining all of our 16x16 panels into one large piece. My artist was Keith Haring and I really enjoyed researching all about him. I recieved 1 or 9 of the panels (bottom, right corner). Left: Corner I referenced
Right: 2 books I rented out to reference |
