The objective of this project was to display implied line and to work with positive and negative space. I had many shapes with thin intricate lines and used these to achieve implied motion. They help the eye follow to the next shape. Another aspect of my final piece was that I used my larger and darker images in the center to try and recreate a shape that was similar to the style of my individual smaller shapes. To me, this sets a interesting visual of positive and negative space.

The theme displayed in my pictures is fantasy. Nature can easily be manipulated into the idea of fantasy so each of my photos were posed and taken outdoors. In my first picture I built little hut as this caterpillars shelter. This living creature, at this size, is not capable of creating a home such as this. For the second piece I walked passed this branch and thought it resembled a leg. I manipulated it and my model in a way were it looks as her real leg is missing and this is the replacement. To me, it resembles half human half nature instead of horse for example. Lastly, I used myself for my landscape piece and stood against this object upside down to resemble a tree that is related to the forest like back ground. My hands are posed to represent tree roots. The leafs and weeds were attached to me to represent the colorful life of a tree. I am, if you will, an upside down tree living as a part of nature.
For this surrealist installation project we used a pot of fake flowers, a text book and a classroom chair. The pages from the book were torn out and folded into paper planes; some were precise while a few were uneven or torn. The pages were also used to show beauty due to the flower layouts. To me, this collaboration expresses that one has the freedom to fly (paper plane), but may face struggles through out life (the string tangled). Aside the struggles of surviving there is always hope and faith to carry on to a brighter future (flowers) and that is why the flowers are represented in the front. One can always move forward to better things. Lastly, a few flowers were dismantled and wedged into creases of the chair to express that beauty can be found anywhere if one makes the decision to search.
